18.1. Teaching Materials/ Equipment for Games
Below, we list some of the necessary materials, as specified in the game descriptions.
Games should be adapted so that the provision of materials is as straightforward as possible (existing items, loans, used packaging, etc.), at a minimum cost, for example: gym benches, chairs, mattresses, planks, pieces of wood, cardboard boxes, etc.
All materials that will support the weight of one or more players at a distance from the ground, regardless of how low or high, must be very sturdy.
Don’t make false economies! Seek advice from specialists!
The quantities required depend on the game and the number of participants, but as a guide, they will be:
- Blindfolds: scarves, bandanas
- Balls and balloons of various sizes
- Plastic bottles of ½, 1, 2 liters, empty, clean, with caps
- Container (plastic basket, bucket, etc.) (for #12.48 etc.)
- A2-sized cardboards (for #10.3.)
- A5-sized cardboards (for #7.11, #7.16. etc.)
- A4-sized cardboards (for # 4.7., # 14.9. etc.)
- Cupboards (thick planks) with dimensions approximately 2.5 m x (12×10) cm. (can be made from thinner planks, assembled with screws)…… 4-5 pieces
- Lightweight but sturdy prefabricated items, with dimensions approximately 25 x 25 x 50 cm, ……8-9 pieces
- Rope with a diameter of 9 mm and a length of 12-15 m, ……1 piece
- Skein of twine (for # 14.16.) ……1 piece
- Skein of thick twine (for #14.13.) ……1 piece
- Adhesive tape (for # 14.13 etc.) ……1 roll
- Clothespins ……2-3 pieces
- Portable cassette player (with batteries – including spares) and 1-2 tapes with lively but not overly intrusive music, ……1 piece
- Woven straps made of synthetic fibers, with a minimum width of 3 cm, with a length of approximately 5 m, ……5-8 pieces
- Circular tarpaulin for #13.19. ……1 piece.
For joining the ends of a strap or joining two straps, it is recommended to use the “mirror knot” from fig. 18.1. The two tails (strap ends) remaining after tightening the knot should each have a length of at least a hand’s breadth (10 cm).
